על הסדנה
Designing for Blended Learning with the Science of Learning
The aim is to empower teachers to design learning that aligns with the cognitive processes that underlie durable learning and help teachers identify the practices that are misaligned with such processes – because misaligned practices can often result in frustrated students who struggle to pay attention, understand, remember, recall, and transfer the taught material. The workshop will provide:
- Introduction to learning design and the edCrumble authoring tool.
- An overview of the science of learning in the context of the cognitive processes underlying student learning.
- Practical learning design activities with the science of learning using edCrumble:
- Planning learning: distributed practice.
- Reinforcement of learning: retrieval practice.
Research: The workshop is delivered at no cost in return for participation in research geared toward improving education. Research involves participants voluntarily completing questionnaires prior to and after the workshops. Participants are also asked to sign consent forms to participate in the research.
Workshop resources: part of the workshop uses the materials from the Illuminated project: http://www.illuminatedproject.eu/
על המנחה
Laia Albó, TIDE research group -Barcelona, Spain
Laia Albó is an Audiovisual Systems Engineer from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona. She has a master’s degree in Education and ICT (e-learning) from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and a PhD on Information and Communication Technologies from the UPF. She is working as a PostDoc researcher in the TIDE research group within the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at UPF. Her research focuses on supporting educators in the design of complex blended learning educational practices with the help of technology. One of the outputs of her thesis has been the design and development of the tool edCrumble, a social lesson planning tool for educators. The tool is framed in a community platform which allows teachers to explore, create, co-create and share lessons with other teachers – facilitating communication among teachers in the community and contributing in the improvement of their teaching practices.
