EPFL’s transition to online teaching and back to a better normal.
I’ll illustrate how the school has responded to the challenge of providing feedback to students at a distance with with online forums. I’ll also reflect on how different actors in the system (IT services, faculty developers, teachers and students) envision the move back to normal and what opportunities lie ahead for a better quality education.

After studies in Geneva (TECFA) and Pittsburgh (LRDC) I joined EPFL in 2003 to coordinate eLearning projects and conduct research in the field of Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL). Starting 2013 I am the executive director of the Center for Digital Education (CEDE). We have produced 150 MOOCs that attracted over 3 million participants worldwide. Current projects include the Swiss MOOC Service, a national MOOC platform for Swiss universities; the EPFL Learning Companion, an online tool for students to assess their learning skills; NOTO, a centralised Jupyter Notebooks facility for education and Campus Analytics, an initiative to mine institutional data to provide recommendations to students, teachers and educational managers. |

וונדר – סביבת מפגש עם תחושה של מקום
הספרייה במכללת שנקר סיפקה מאז ומתמיד לסטודנטיות ולסטודנטים מקום שבו יכלו להיפגש, ללמוד ביחד או לחוד באווירה מעוררת השראה, ולהתייעץ כשהרגישו צורך בכך. עם פרוץ מגפת הקורונה והקשיים שהיא הציבה בפנינו, התחלנו לחפש תחליפים מקוונים. במפגש זה נשתף אתכן.ם בשאלות שעלו, באתגרים ובפתרונות שאנו מנסות ומנסים ליישם.
